Commando

24 Mar 2010

Here are three select images from last months French Vogue. Styled by Emmanuelle Alt and featuring Iselin Steiro the editorial is called Commando, stars a lot of Balmain, and is basically the sort of thing I day dream about.

Random fact: The Balmain croc jacket shown in the third picture can be purchased for £38,637.00. Go on, do it!

Balmain Fall / Winter 2010

04 Mar 2010

This collection needs absolutely no introduction.

Top three:

Favourite all round, and no, not just because Freja ROCKS it:

I think I need some purple velvet in my life, I also think that if I ever become the kind of woman who wears power suits, it will definitely be this:

Head over here to SWOOON.

PPQ Fall 2009

21 Feb 2010

It’s London Fashion Week!

Yes, I know you know this already, after all you’ve been watching the live streams, refreshing Style.com, following specific designers on twitter etc etc

Well guess what? That’s all you really need to do, and one should really only bother to be off-the-moment, that is, try to go to shows/parties when the specific designer is worship worthy… Specifically, the designers that had you uttering ‘I wander what their Fall collection will be like’ five months ago, two minutes after publicly loving their Spring 2010 collection (which you have yet to wear).

Last night PPQ showed their Fall 2010 collection… I know you have yet to wrap your head around the current weather, I know you want to look forward to sun, not think past it, not think about next time it will be this cold. I know this, but still need to share the perfect end to a rainy Saturday, the eight pm slot that allowed you to go dressed up knowing you can move on to a party without a rushed and harassed need to go home and change routine. A collection that you expected to be good, yet did not expect the dresses to make you feel positively, not underdressed so much as… Plain.

Crushed velvet and gold.

I feel the need to make a themed collage not only declaring this a new favourite, but sharing all the various ways it can be played into every outfit, but first I want to share six top looks from the 23 shown:

My girlfriends declared love for the big handbags and uber weird-in-a-good-way shoes, I loved the silhouettes, the coats and the best model casting of London Fashion week so far. The ability to see yourself in an outfit as it comes down the ramp is rare and very distracting.

What do you think?

Don’t call it a comeback… Or a fanny pack!

06 Feb 2010

I never thought I would be one to openly worship at the altar of D & G, but here we are.

As practical and amazing as the Lily bag was, still is, there is an sense of urgency regarding the Jeri, put best by Domenico Dolce in a recent Grazia interview ‘They’re perfect for girls who want to carry around their iPods, phones, lipstick and dance with their hands in the air!’
However, before you start thinking evil fanny pack thoughts, here are a few things to note… This bag is really a body bag. The Jeri’s size works as a functional medium sized body bag one can sling around the body.

The Jeri has multiple front zippers and leather tassles, and like the Lily messenger lots of extra compartments for organizational purposes. The Jeri bag comes in a great orange leather, distressed denim, suede and ocelot printed pony skin variations, for Summer and to avoid handbag conflict, I’m definitely gonna go with distressed denim.

Available for £505 at D&G

The Lily messenger (just in case you have forgotten):
