Unnecessary Wang drama
21 May 2009
I just did a bad thing, this post is a confession.
Sometimes I think I am the only one not obsessed with Alexander Wang. I like him, yes, generally I would probably agree with 50% of the items he creates (not too sure about the destroyed denim shorts, that dodgy bullet bag etc) but unlike every other fashion person on the internet, I most definitely don’t think about him, apart from that one time, and then briefly that other time.
That is why my sudden impulsive purchase of an obvious ‘inspired by’ Wang piece from (of all places) Topshop shocks me. About ten minutes ago I was bored, knowing the Kate Moss line launched today I decided to browse the Topshop website, one thing led to another and yada ya I found this item and clicked add to cart.
Here is the Alexander Wang mesh mini dress, and here is my new Topshop mesh tunic (yes I plan to wear it with jeans):

Do you see the resemblance? This Alexander Wang dress is actually pretty famous, and that’s why my behaviour feels so odd, this is totally something I won’t usually do.

However, maybe I did it for other reasons, there is a part of me that knows it will probably be sold out very, very soon… It could also all be about:
Thoughts?
